Flooding and Food

So I have had a very eventful weekend, on Saturday my wife and I decided to go meet with friends and have dinner.

We went to a place in Bournemouth which is an all you can eat restaurant which does Chinese, Indian, Japanese type foods. They have a lot of different things you can try which is great if you don't know what you like, and because it means if you don't like it you're not really paying for it.
The rain was pretty bad and the drive was not nice, it was hard to see the puddles as it was dark and there seemed to be quite a bit of fog around.

We met our friends at the car park near by at about 5:45pm, and we had previously booked a table for 6:00pm because it has been known to be quite busy sometimes.
We stayed for around 2 hours, enough to get our money's worth and till we had no room left.
We got outside and it was still drizzling a bit we decided to go back to my friends house and relax a bit.

The rain had really started to chuck it down most of the day. We decided to got home as it was quite late. We must have left at around 10:40pm.
I decided to take the normal route home there was quite a lot of rather large puddles but we managed to get through them. Then we came across a rather large puddle near Bishop's Caundle on the A3030. We were met with a car in front of us stuck, which was almost out of it. The woman from the car came out and said it was very deep. They managed to make it through and almost out he other side before the car cut out. We could see some headlight around the corner, the woman said another car tried to go through it from our side and managed to get stuck the other side. We decided to turn around and go an alternative route.

So we turned around and managed to go back on ourselves and go a different way home through Stalbridge towards Milborne Port. This route was much like the first route, there were fairly large puddles but with care we were able to pass them.
But the again, we must have gotten half way just outside Milborne Port on the A30 there was a much longer puddle we could see a car in middle of the puddle stuck with water pretty much up to the number plate of the car. This was not looking good. We had to turn back again. I then decided that we would have to go via Wincanton. I knew that the route from Wincanton to Yeovil was pretty good there were not too many small roads, but I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure if the route to Wincanton would be blocked again. I decided to try it anyway. So I turned back towards Henstridge then up towards Wincanton. So we managed to take the A303 then back to Yeovil. And we make it! It was probably one of the most frustrating journeys home. It had taken us nearly 2 hours to get home rather than a 35 minute journey.

I had learnt two things that day; 1. Don't make any unintentional trips when there are numerous flood warnings. And 2. Don't drive it flood water when you can't see the road.

Magic

So the Wednesday just gone we had tickets to sit in the audience of a tv show recording of Penn & Teller: Fool Us. It was in a studio near Wembley, London. The time that we had to arrive at the studio at 11:45.

So we dressed up, I wore a grey suit trousers with the matching waistcoat and a white shirt. We set off early in the morning and got there around 10:00am, so we got there and got our wrist bands. We also managed to get a red coloured wristband which meant we could "potentially" be asked up on stage if the opportunity presented itself.

So we managed to a some seats second from the front of the stage! It was so exciting! We were so close. Penn & Tellers chairs were just behind us to the right.

I can't really talk too much about the performances or what happened as the show hasn't aired yet. But all I can say was it was pretty awesome. The chances are that we could be on the telly, as there was a couple behind us and the woman was called up on to the stage. Also there was a couple in front of us that were "involved" in another trick so there is a VERY high chance that we are on the telly! But we have to wait till around June to see the final results.

So, I have made a comic, it kinda happen by accident.
It started as a joke, I drew the first picture of A friend of mine because she was always looking out the window at work. We all joked that she was stalking all the men, hence The Raven.

So, I guess I should have done one of these ages ago!
Where to start? Ummm, happy new year to you all! You should all be settled in to 2011. I can't believe another year has gone by, I'm starting to feel old.
I'm still working in Debs, its almost been 2 years since I started, I feel like I need a change. The amount of different people that I have met through work, have joined and left again and actually gone and done things with there life. I feel like I'm just wasting my life, working in a job that isn't that great. I need to start thinking long term and figure out what I want to do with my life before it passes me by. I always hate thinking about the future, I always prefer to take things as they come, although that doesn't seem to be working so far. I guess I have to hurry up and make up my mind.

Website & Tyres

So my website is back! It was down for a while but I resurected it back to life!It's probably need a good update, but at the moment I haven't really found the time. I feel like after work and after I've relexed after work, I don't really have much time to myself. I think I need to start managing my life.And I know I said would try update this thing more but I really am going to try this time! I've been reading back my own blog. (I know how much of an ego do I have, right?) But it was nice to read back all the crap that I did, so this might help me make more of these since my memory is so back I can't even remember what I wrote.So today I'm getting new tyres for my car, I know this probably isn't very interesting but I have an hour to kill so I'm sat in Starbucks drinking a Lemon Frappuccino, which isn't bad! In recent days it's bee pretty hot here in the UK which is great! We haven't had great weather here for ages and it seems like 'The Big Freeze' was ages ago! I hope to plan some things to do this summer since I feel like I haven't been doing much other than working. So I think at some point I will go visit London again, maybe go to some more gigs like I use to. Ok I'm off until the next time. I think my tyres are done now.

Long awaited update

Right! I know its been awhile! I started writting one of these ages ago. But quickly lost intrest. I'm going to make these a little more frequent as I can.
Anyway not too long ago, before it closed, I did go to Bristol and see the Banksy exhibition. I'll put some photos up when I get some time. It was really good to see, but the queues were really long we where waiting for about 2 hours. I guess it was probably worth it since it is only a limited run till the end of the month. I have heard people from all over the world have come to go see it. So I guess I'm lucky as I don't live too far away.
I'm still at my contract job that dosn't pay much but I guess I can't complain too much, its still money after all.
I had two weeks off so that wasn't too bad. But I'm looking for a new one since this one is a little too far away for me to go, I need to find one a little closer to home.

New Job

Ok so I know its been like ages since the last one, but I've been really busy. First of all I've got a job! Yay! Go me! I only just started Monday, and it is just a contract job, but hopefully it might just be permanent. Because I've been busy with work I haven't really got much time on my hands anymore, so when I get home from work I just chill for a bit, then to sleep and then I get ready for the next day. The only time I get to myself really is in the weekends now.
The job is a QA Test Analyst. I just test scripts really its a long and tedious job but it pays money I guess. I'm happy though, I just hope I become more permanent. Well thats all i have to say really I think, bye!

Snow day

So today is day two, of the most snow fallen in the UK for 15 years, says the news. I realise that although this is may not be a huge deal for most people out there, as you have probably seen lots of it, depending on where you are in the world. But for the UK to have snow it is a very rare thing.
Most winters we do indeed get snow but very little mind, it would maybe snow 1 day in the whole year and usually over night and it would never settle because it's usually wet, so the snow would melt.
I think that this whole panic about the snow is quite funny actually, because we are all making such a huge fuss about it. I think that the problem is, is that we were just not prepared for the snow. I mean it just came over night.
Its great though, I managed to get quite a few good shots of the snow, it looked amazing. We even made a snowman.

All in all its been a very interesting few days, I think I'm a little bored of snow now, the novelty has worn off. Now I just want the snow to disappear, I have to drive my mum to the airport on Friday, I'm not sure if the weather will permit.

So....this is the New Year?

So today its been a few days and the new year has settled in a bit. Well it should be anyway, it really doesn't feel much different than last year.
Ok, so I know its been awhile since I've done one of these and so much has happened to me, but I just haven't had the time to just sit and type my thoughts. But that'll change, I hope.
I've decided to try and do more of these, I realized I've probably said this before.
So a few things I should say since the last time I did this, I got engaged to an amazing girl in October.
I moved out of my parents house and I have no job. Pretty good going if you ask me.
I spent Christmas with my fiancée's family, I still go home every now and again to see the family.
I've not been doing much with myself at the moment, but its a little hard with my current situation, I have no job and with the current crisis at the moment its a little hard. I am looking but there just doesn't seem to be much going right now. I just hope I find something soon.

Long days

So today I woke up earlier than usual, Jade wanted to go to the beach today because the weather has been very nice recently. I must of got around 6 hours sleep that night. So I got out at around 8am had a shower and stuff got ready.
I left the house and proceeded to her friends Steph's house, because she had stayed there the previous night. I got there for exactly 9am, I thought that was pretty good myself, I thought I was going to be late. When I got there the girls were ready, Jade says to me "A change of plan we decided to go Bristol Zoo instead." I wasn't expect that one! Nevermind, I have my TomTom so its ok. So we all set off to Bristol Zoo.
When we got there, I took my camera, which I had in the boot of my car luckily, figured it would be a good opportunity to get some pictures.
We had a wonder around the place for awhile, I can't remember exactly everything we went to see because we forgot to get a map, so we just wondered around the place looking at everything. I took a pictures while we were walking around, I don't know how many of them came out well because most of the animals were behind glass and its hard not to get reflections in the shot. Jade also took my camera most of the time so I had to use my compact camera most of the time. It was good enough though.
We must have only been there for around an hour an half then we saw everything that we wanted to see. So we decided it was time for food, so we went to KFC. The amount of times I've been to KFC lately is unbelievable...well the amount I've ate there is, anyway. Everytime I shared a bucket between two. I felt like a right pig! I'm surprised I have gained 8 stones or anything. So today we shared a bucket between 3, so I didn't feel as fat. Although I was still stuffed by the end of it.
Then we got back to Jade's house I was knackered after all that driving plus getting up early, to top it all off I still had to get to work that evening.
Currently I'm at work and time is moving really slowly, I just want to go home and sleep... I'm hoping by writing this whole thing it would occupy my mind then it'll be time to go home.
No such luck...still got awhile to go :(
